MSCO museum

From May 25 to June 16 the museum will not work for technical reasons. From June 16, we will be glad to see everyone from 14.00. Record on the tour by phone at (8152) 18/10/48, 48-11-60, 8-921-515-08-08.

MSCO History museum was opened in 1977. For several decades, the museum has collected the unique photographs, the portrait gallery of the polar captains, marine equipment, ship bells, a model of a nuclear reactor, and many other interesting exhibits.

At present, the museum consists of three rooms:

  • History of the icebreaker and transport fleet

  • Vessels and people of the nuclear fleet

  • MSCO tankers

At the permanent exhibition "From " Ermak "to nuclear icebreakers" a lot of photographs, models of Company's icebreakers and transport vessels are presented.

The unique small collection of micro-models is worth seeing. The smallest model in the exhibition has dimensions only 14 centimeters in length - it is a model of vessel "Vologda".
The diorama "Development of the Northern Sea Route" is also of the great interest for the visitors is where ships being unloaded and seamen figures on fast ice, etc. look like real.
Anong the museum exhibits is the original picture "Sea Coast Dwellers. 1907" by Nicholay Roerich.
The significant part of the exhibition tells the participation of seafarers of the shipping company in the northern convoys. The museum has been a meetingnplace for the members of Murmansk city public organization "Association of Arctic explorers'' for more than ten years, the meetings take place monthly. On the yearly basis meetings with the World War II veterans and participants of the polar convoys are held the museum.
